I am sorry for butting in on this conversation. But I do see your point in this. I am an American born citizen. And, at first I never wanted a gun. But after moving down to the state of Kentucky, I realized that having a gun means you can do so much. You can hunt for food, shoot targets for fun, etc. But a gun-ban will do the US no good. If they did ban it, in my opinion, there will be a lot more riots in the US because over 90% of the American population has a gun in there house for safety.

And, in no way am I trying to say you are wrong, and I am right. But I do respect what you said, and it makes a valid point.

GUN CRIME?! You don't have to have a gun to kill somebody! If they want to do it bad enough, they will, no matter what it takes.

Referring back to more statistics. Gun crime makes up 40% of the homicides in the US. If guns were banned, that's get vastly reduced. Thus reducing almost 1/3 of the killings in the US.

I'm looking at a guns point of view because that's what subject we're on. A kid being shot in the head, a school being shot up and a movie theater. Tell me, how many mass murders happen with weapons that aren't guns compared to guns?

How do you know that? Guns are more lethal than knives. It's easier to defend against a knife than a gun.

You say that there hasn't been any gun crimes in your county in years and that the homicide rate in the U.S. is 40%. Where are you getting these numbers from? Presenting "facts" that you stumbled upon on Yahoo answers while searching for "pro gun control" isn't making you any more knowledgeable in the subject. You're most-likely preaching what your parents taught you, or you recently watched a convincing video that did nothing but present statistics favoring one side.

If you decide to post more statistics in this thread, leave out news sites, and be sure that the data analyzes the pros and cons of both sides of the argument. I suggest you read up on what a conformation bias is as well.

It's sad that this had to be said by the mother of a student: "As a parent, you just think you can send your child to school and you hope they come home OK."
