Elgato all the way, so much easier HDMI so better quality no need for power 1080p list could go on!

Get the Hauppauge HDPVR 1 (Blue) because it's cheaper, records 720p, but you can render the video in 1080p. Here's a video I recorded with my PVR:

I'd stick with the HD PVR Elgato can be sketchy at times and hasn't been around as long.

Elgato is HDMI in and HDMI out, so no need for a converter like the HD PVR. Elgato also has it's own software so you can do live commentaries and stream as well.

Get the elgato you can go back without even recording, and II think quality looks better than pvr.
