In some places, school rules apply from the time you leave your home to get to school til you arrive back home from school. So even though you aren't on school property, school rules may still be in place.

This kind of system is usually put in place so that if someone jumps someone else on the way home they can still suspend them from school - but as a consequence control freak teachers can take your phone away too.

Legally they are not allowed to take your phone point blank. Thats invasion of privacy. Even if you have a lock code on your phone you can simply get into it with a usb and a computer by simply plugging it in. They can take your battery but that's about it. Also they are not allowed to search you with a parent or guatdians permussion if you are a minor and neither is a cop. Most times even if you are a minor they won't do it even if you say its ok cause it can backlash on them. The only way they can search you is if they see you with something or it gers overruled by the judge.. But they must obtain it after searching you otherwise that's a felony.

That is not true. They are always allowed to perform pat downs, and in some cases (where there is reason to suspect a crime) a pocket search, without permission from a parent/guardian. The only time a parent/guardian needs to be informed is if you are in custody. That's a police officer by the way. #backtolawschool

Also, when I was at school, we wore uniforms, while wearing the uniform, in or out of school, you were their responsibility and they could confiscate any contraband.
I think uniform or not, we were under their supervision until we arrived home anyway, so it made no difference.

I think it is a little OTT, but at the same time, you know the rules... Don't do the crime if you can't do the time ;)

My schools policy is that if you have your phone out in school it gets taken away by the teacher.

The first time it gets taken you can get it yourself after school.
The second time a parent or guardian has to come get it

Except most teachers are pretty nice about it and give warnings, and even some don't even care that your using it.

Hats on the other hand get taken immediately if worn in school

All I know is that in my school the same thing happens, and they say the school boundaries are "Anywhere within view of the school" Which is total bullshit. so that's how they dignify their standpoint..

In my school we have BYOT so you can bring your own technology (includes cellphones) and you can use them as long as they are not a distraction during class.
