The only reason why smoking is still legal it's because it brings so much revenue for governments. We could say the same thing as why isn't there any cures for the common cold? It's because companies that sell drugs (Advil, Tylenol, etc.) would basically lose most of their sales and probably go bankrupt.
It's all about making money and it will always be.
*Just my 2 cents :p

The kid in your class could live in a household full of smokers and can't do anything about it, its sad but ive seen it before.
But cigarettes being illegal would create a bigger black market demand for them then there already is.
Prohibition of any drug(any mind altering substance) is a 19th century solution to a more modern problem.
What we need instead is education about drugs, addiction, and how those two effect your health and let people decide for themselves if they still want to use drugs.

Italian wrote I have two parents who have been smoking since I was born. I am 18, I have no breathing problems. Or anything that I am aware of. They dont try and blow the smoke in my face either though. But if I am around they never said "let's smoke later" lol.
And that kid who smells like cigs, might not be a smoker. I smelled like cigs all the time and have never touched a drug in my life.
My dad used to smoke and he had to have an open heart surgery.
As well as he always talks about smoking and I have seen him smoking.

Smoking is a bad habit, and nobody should ever start that addiction.
Its a human right to do what you want to your body, so if they want to smoke themselves into an early grave then let them.
I think that maybe public smoking should be illegal. But I can't see it happening.

Sure smoking is gross to people who dont smoke. I dont blame them, The smell is awful and causes a lot of health problems as well. But no it shouldn't be illegal. Its the persons own choice to choose to smoke or not to smoke.

As much as i agree, something tat doesn't inhibit your thinking too much (e.g a limit of alcohol/cigarettes) will never be banned.

Have fun with your low lifespan (on average), just please, if you're english, don't go crying to the NHS for help.
