Smoking is fine, a smoker accepts the risks the second they pay for a pack. Besides governments earn loads because of the high tax placed on cigarettes, they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

Italian wrote I have two parents who have been smoking since I was born. I am 18, I have no breathing problems. Or anything that I am aware of. They dont try and blow the smoke in my face either though. But if I am around they never said "let's smoke later" lol.

And that kid who smells like cigs, might not be a smoker. I smelled like cigs all the time and have never touched a drug in my life.

My dad used to smoke and he had to have an open heart surgery.
As well as he always talks about smoking and I have seen him smoking.

My uncle died at 40 because of smoking. I am completely against drugs but people who smoke cigs for 30+ years, cant just stop. It is nearly impossible

I also know someone who quit after 20+ years but they still have the urge, and even after 3 years non smoking she has gained loads of weight, because when she doesnt smoke, she eats.

You are aware that sign / effects won't show up very early. Typically, when you hear someone talking about having cancer from smoking it's from 10 years or more of smoking cigarettes. And they try hard to discourage others from smoking also. You should really try stopping now, before it's too late. What benefit does it even bring a person? I know the facts show a person pays for expensive ass cigarettes now, then pay for expensive ass cancer treatments later. I watch the kids at my school smoking, doing drugs, drinking heavily, and it saddens me. I think it's just our generation trying to grow up too fast, and we think we have all the answers. Personally I don't ever want to touch any of that crap...

COULDN'T AGREE MORE.

And for the kid who smokes. Goodluck.
My friend was an AMAZING Pole Vaulter. His first year of playing he already had scholarships to go to The Citadel (military college) and others also. He starting smoking MJ, Cigs, Cigars, Hooka. And he declined the offer and goes to the community college he use to bash on me for wanting to go to. Now after all those drugs he does pills and schrooms. And supposedly he does some Cocaine once in a while.

I would have to agree with you but our government's logic is horrible. It's making them millions upon millions of dollars so they will not do anything about it. They would rather have more people die from disease rather than take some affirmative action.

There is no benefit to keeping cigarettes around. Sure it may relieve some temporary stress but that's not a very good trade off.

If people want to ruin their life at such a young age... Let them...

They will wish they never started smoking.

I don't think banning them would solve the problem, considering how addicting they are people would be able to get them if they really wanted to.
Someone already said this but increasing education on the effects of them, but also increasing education on how to deal with peer pressure and showing people sites to help with tough situations so that they don't turn to smoking would be a lot better than an outright ban.

I used to smoke, but I quit after a couple of years.
You can't just stop though, every time I walk into a shop It takes a huge amount of restraint to stop myself from buying a pack.
So, I wouldn't demonize smokers, lots want to stop [maybe not all] but it does take a lot of hard work.
