Having a car as a teenager is practically a necessity anymore. Most teens are working before they get out of high school, and if they don't have a car, they can't get to work. I think if anything we should lower the Driver's Permit age to 14 so that we can get an extra year of driving done with parents. I think we'd be more mature drivers by then and would pose less of a threat to others.

Zoidberg wrote I'm strongly against this. I'm 17, and have been driving for a year and a half, and have posed no threat to anyone. Bad drivers come in all shapes and sizes, the majority of teen drivers are very conscientious (myself for example) because they aren't very experienced and don't know what to expect with all that power behind the wheel.

I have to disagree with ya Zoid. It isn't really about bad drivers more so then careless drivers which teens have a bad rep for.

SPEEDHUNTERS wrote Wait, I'm sure it already is 18? In the UK anyways.

It's only 17 for U.K
Thankfully

And on topic:
I've just turned 16 last week, so can't wait to start driving next year! I am very mature and think I am not too bad of a driver as I am, with only a couple of times of trying

But there are some things which I think should mean it should be raised. But people say, "Oh, 17 year olds do not have experience". Well even if the age was raised to 25, 25 year old's would then not have experience!

I'm 16 and have been driving for a few months now, I've had no problems. I don't think raising the age limit for driving would be needed, but that's me personally.
It's not like we just get our license, that's the thing. We have to get our temps, then drivers ed. I'd say it's a good while of hand holding, most after that long duration of time get the concepts.

I'm for it. I don't think you are responsible to put your life at risk and others when your 16/17.

Maybe when you're a little older...

Axe wrote Wouldn't really affect me at all, but might make some people who are 15 and eager to get their license mad.
I'm 15, if they change it, I'm running around my block naked, yelling, way to go Obama.

I completely agree with this most of the 16/17 year olds I know are still a little inmature and sorta take driving as a joke.

Honestly, I am against this.

My thoughts and this is just my opinion, I drive for a living so i see all kinds of people's driving skills. And honestly, its either youre a good driver or a bad driver. It really doesn't matter if youre 16 or 18. Some people learn faster than others, and some people honestly just SUCK at driving.

For an example, Las Vegas. Nuff said.

I believe they should stick with the age of 16.
