i had the same problem i did re-installed the pc with the new stcks of ram and i guess that did the job never had a problem since if that dont work i say call the help line of the brand pc you have and ask them

when you bought the pc? did it come with cds? (recovery cds) if not then yur pc might have it built in. im not sure but try that

Nope, it came with nothing but the charger and a manual. I've already "refreshed" the laptop anyway, and that sends it back to its defaults. Same issue.

HP Envy M6-1302sa, Windows 8.1. I've already googled this for about 6 hours.

Are the Sticks of RAM firmly placed into the correct slots? I know you said the memory is compatible but it may not be. Sounds like maybe one of your slots may be damaged.... try one stick in both slots, trying one at a time. Also boot the PC with one stick in one slot and try again in the other slot, do this with both sticks. If both sticks boot fine then you slots are fine. Something may be wrong with your RAM specifically being together. One cause and the likely cause of this is that the two sticks may not have enough power going to them so they can run with the computer. Im not certain with this diagnosis because there is loads of other info that I need to get an exact diagnosis. If the sticks are not getting enough power two run both at the same time, try going into the BIOS and find an option that increases the voltage rate. Like I said I need more info, run a system information test as well as a diagnosis test. I'm not sure how to run these on Windows 8 but try to find them, you can also run memory diagnostics which these tools most likely are found in the system control panel as they are on Windows 7

I have only two slots, and the RAM is firmly spaced. Correct angle and everything, completely in, nothing slipping out. I've already done that, and found that the slots are fine. Basically, everything's 100% okay until I decide to put another stick in. Then the laptop decides to screw up. PM Me exactly what you need for the diagnostics, and I'll PM you the info.
