Hey guys how hot should my CPU be running while just idle on the desktop? It is not OC'ed and has only the stock cooler. It runs between 50 and 60 Celsius. Is that bad?

That's pretty toasty to be idle.
What CPU are you using?

Hmm yes I would be worried. When I am hard core gaming I get 50 celcius. When idle I get 20-30 celcius.

maybe, i would try either a 212 evo, corsair 80i, or 100i depending on what case you have
yeah that is also quite toasty, i have my i7 at @4ghz and it doesnt go about 30-40 idle

It would help, but you should not be forced to have one. I have a stock cooler with FX 6300.

I have the cooler master N400, I am looking at the 212 EVO right now on Amazon. Would it be a smart purchase?

Rizmah wroteWell I read online awhile ago before I bought the CPU that it runs a little hot and an after market cooler was a good purchase, but should I get one good enough to over clock it or just to cool it down and not over clock?ImTesta wrote Should I buy and aftermarket cooler?
