Whenever you feel you're ready, It doesn't really matter, as the games Matchmaking system will match you with people of the same skill as yourself, but make sure you understand how competitive works, it's a lot different than casual. I would recommend watching some tutorials online about Competitive mode first, "TheWarOwl" makes some great videos, If you screw up in comp, your team will not be happy.

I personally had roughly 60hrs game time before playing competitive.

Just hop in and see how you play.

More you play, more you learn.

I'll definitely start learning map call outs and spots. Would it be worth to go on vet bots for a bit? or is that too much ahaha

Look up some videos and learn the spots, but start on Dust 2 first, once you get the game moved onto the more advanced maps like Mirage, Inferno, etc.

I would actually recommend the opposite & stay away from Dust2 for a while, Dust2 is just filled with Smurfs, he'll just get his ass kicked & won't enjoy Competitive at all, giving him the wrong impression.

OP - If you're unsure what a smurf in CSGO is, It's basically when a higher skilled player gets a lower competitive rank on purpose, to play against lower skilled players.

If I'm honest. You're gonna get rekt the first couple of games anyway. If you have a good team (maybe get friends to play, get with good people) you could do good.

And yeah. Please don't take Scotty's advice. Dust2 would probably be the worst map to play on. Try Inferno, Mirage or Cache.

Pretty much everything has been stated before me but here is a website you can use to learn the callous of the maps that some people in competitive may want you to learn. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Since it is in alpha, it only supports Dust2, nevertheless still a good resource
