UZl wrote I love the 240's. i like the 97-98 240sx the most since it has that mean look on the front.

1) how much have you spent so far on the silvia build

Around 4-5k so far, the swap itself is cheap but I did a small rebuild before I dropped it in!

Thanks on the feedback guys!

Is it difficult to make an engine swap on those vehicles?

The swap itself is fairly easy aslong as you have an idea of what your doing any have access to tools to do so. The engine bays are big so you have a ton of options as far as swaps go. A lot of people rebuild the stock ka24de/ka24e motors because you have a nice 2.4l 4cyl motor. Could fairly easily get 400whp/390ftq. Also are very lightweight & have an even powerband when boosted.

they have very similar mounting points on various Nissan engines that's why you'll see anything from stock engine, sr20, rb, and even LS

Yaaaay proof! the swaps on these cars are actually fairly easy we did one on a 240sx with a KA and swapped in the SR20 i personally love 180's and 240's just all around fun cars with enough power to throw it sideways and get into trouble with, with the SR20

How much would you pay for a 1996, 97, 98?

Suppose they all are stock non turbo and have about 180k miles on each.

Also, is it ok to buy a car that already has a engine swap on it, for example an RB25DET or an SR20DET?

Im really looking into buying a 240sx but it has to be 1996 and up. i like the 1992-94 but i like the Zenki and the kouki even more.

In my area those years with that amount of miles would run you about $3-4k with stock internals.

if it was an SR20 with reasonable miles in it probably around $6k or so depending on the mods. it will keep getting more expensive obviously with RB engines since those are harder to find. A local Vert 240 with an RB25 swap is up for $11k but that's also RHD.

And it would be fine to buy a car that has been swapped just make sure they have done it properly and try to stay away from ones that have like 1,000 miles or so on the new engine cause they could have been swapped incorrectly or have problems, which would be why the owner is selling it. find ones that have more miles on them to where they would be broken in if that makes sense haha

Kouki front ends are usually the more desirable ones which are harder to find so they are a little more expensive.
