Some mechanics here wont even look at American or Chinese cars because they're so badly built lol

I have recently been looking at 125cc bikes and the amount of dealers that said they don't stock Chinese bikes or even service them was quite funny. Just the reliability and just to keep the reputation of their shops up. Also when something does go wrong the money they are paid to fix it by the manufacturer is shocking.

Or is it because they don't know how to work on a real car? Perhaps since American cars are pretty straight forward, they don't yield a lot of money to the mechanic so they won't work on them lol.

A mechanic not working on a car because they are badly built is like a lawyer not taking a case because it's too easy. A mechanic wants your car to break so he can make money...

Hyundai is a fairly cheap, quality safe car. You won't be racking in compliments or women because of your car, but they are high quality, low price, and get the job done well

Also car and finance prices in general are a lot cheaper in the US compared to UK, it's pretty ridiculous.

Also to add something to OP's question, it's not too hard. Small Hatchback a few years old with an engine up to 1.4L. If you're going for a new car, one with small emissions will save you on road tax, seeing as newer engines are now more environmentally friendly than their counterparts from a few years ago.

Basically your Fiesta's, Corsa's, Polo's etc.

Get something like a Suzuki Swift, a Corsa or a fiesta or something. You don't really want to go over a 1.4l
