It depends on your version of long time, really. The way I look at it is ever 1k you spend, that car should last a year. I bought a '99 F-50 Lariat V-10 with a 6" lift for 3200, I have no doubt that thing would've lasted 3 years. Should've never sold it

5k will get you plenty nice vehicles.. I bought my 03 GT mustang for $6200, but I have seen them go for 5ish. YOu arent gonna get a new car, but you could get something like an 04 CTS Cadi. Nice cars, modernish interior, insurance is low, and if you maintain them they last a good amount of time.
