OT: I guess Pokemon isn't everyone's cup of tea and was pretty shitty the way your co workers acted but I just have to disagree.

I never liked Pokemon as a kid. I thought it was stupid/nerdy and in my ignorant youth felt I was too cool for it. I've obviously grown up since then and understand that everyone likes what they like and there's nothing wrong with that. And honestly... I LOVE Pokemon GO.

And yes, it is pretty "nerdy". But so is Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and video games in general... but how many people are part of the culture of all three of those? Tons.

Honestly nobody should be ridiculed for playing (or not playing in your case) Pokemon GO. It's fun, if you let it be. For some people, they're Pokemon fanatics and loved it as a kid. So now they get to live out their dream of being as close to a Pokemon trainer as possible. For people like me, it's just an addicting game.

And sure, some people may play because everyone else is, but, so what? That's how information spreads. If every last one of your friends was doing this "new and exciting" thing, you'd at least be INTERESTED to see what it is. There's no need to be such a scrooge about it and ruin it for all the people that DO enjoy the game.

It really is crappy that you were embarrassed by someone for not playing. That's just as stupid as people making fun of people who play. But even without that particular instance, you come off as one of those "hipster" type people that hate anything that is semi-popular with mass amounts of people.

Again, Im sorry for the embarrassing instance. And it also sucks you aren't a fan of the game, because I get a lot of enjoyment out of it and I wish that whoever else gives it a try will have the same in return. Honestly, it wouldn't even have to be Pokemon for me. It could be anything. The game just has an addicting, "I gotta catch em all" (seriously just a coincidence that that's the slogan) vibe to it. I'm always going for runs/walks, running errands, etc. So since I'm out of the house a lot, this is a revolutionary, fun game for me to partake in while I'm out and about.

Maybe you should just give the game a REAL chance and let go of all your prejudice.

I can definitely agree with you on that. I don't know why someone would think any one HAS to play a game or that anyone who doesn't is "uncool". I can totally feel your frustration, and if it happened to me I would easily have a predetermined opinion of people who play the game afterwards. Glad you didn't take offense to what I said though. But I agree, on a degree. I play the game in my car, but only at Stoplights. I don't dare drive and try to catch at the same time. I've also heard about people getting mugged/killed at Pokestops and Gyms in the middle of the night. However, I'm sure SOME of it is fake news, but I know that if people are actually playing it in the car, there are high odds they've caused wrecks.


Either way, it's just a Trend. The main reason it's so popular is it's Augmented Reality. Only a couple of those in existence. Not to mention, it's Pokemon. If you don't like it, don't let it bother you. Give it a few months and people will stop playing it as much. Once people realize it's a bad game, full of lag and lack of content, they'll start focusing on the next big thing for another month.
