I played Pokemon so much as a kid and haven't played it in the longest time, once the Nintendo DS came out I couldn't afford that so I stopped playing it and haven't really been interested in it since.

This new game they made is fun and haven't seen anything like it, I don't think it's just a fad, a lot of people were Pokemon fans before just haven't played in a long time and this game got them back into it.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but the micro-transactions at the moment are not as bad as other mobile games. Because almost everything that can be bought can be earned through leveling up or going to poke stops. As a fan of Pokemon for the last 17 years(played all 7 generations and multiple spin-off games), I dont see myself putting the game down any time soon. As long as they keep adding more generations and customizations. Also trading and battling is a must.

Also, your co-worker sounds like a dick.

I think it's just a nostalgia factor. A lot of people played Pokemon as kids and this takes them back to those days. It's a pretty neat idea and Nintendo's shares sky-rocketed as a result. I find it fun whenever I have the time to play. But, you could argue that grown ass people prioritize catching Pokemon instead of other more important things.

Qwel wrote No one cares that you caught the "flying thing", why all of a sudden everyone is interested in Pokemon? Is it because everyone else is doing it? Is this game just another fad so that people can fit in? "omg ha ur n0t playn pokrman? ha y?" SHUT UP no one cares, I dont have to give you a reason as to why I dont like pokemon I just DONT. This is literally just another mobile game that will try and milks its "fan base" dry with stupid micro transactions... I kinda hope nintendo goes mobile and dies out.

this rant is all over its mainly made because I had a co worker pretty much embarrass me in front of a few friends today because I didnt like pokemon and that I dont play this new dumb shit.

idk what this rant is, delet if you want ttg people
I don't care for the game either! to many bad things happening in the world today we do not need kids to come up missing cause someone nut job and people being robbed getting in car wrecks , honestly isn't worth it

Motivational wrote On a positive note, it gets some people outside who probably haven't been outside for a very long time.

I agree however, it's just a short lived thing and the hype will die down soon (I hope).

that is the only good thing it gets kids out side but they shouldn't have to go far from home to play the game. hopefully it will die of soon

I pretty much grew up playing the Pokemon games and I still play Pokemon games to this date. When Pokemon GO was announced, I was naturally going to try it out and I'll be the first to admit, I wasn't expecting much with it at all when it was first being released but now I enjoy it a lot actually. To me, it's something that will tide me over until Sun and Moon come out in November and even then, I'll still go back and play Pokemon GO as they release more from the other gens. It's not perfect by any means, there are plenty of problems with server issues, bugs, the whole gym battle thing is really broken and it doesn't support competitive battles like the main series Pokemon games do or even a place like Pokemon Showdown, but it's still a great little causal game to let out my inner Pokemon nerd for the time being. Yeah there's no doubt a lot of people are jumping onto the game because of it being popular and as a fad, few of my friends have done so and have no clue what anything does really, but that's them so whatever. I think a lot of people got the game due to it being another Pokemon game that isn't some little 3rd party rip off and because it brings back that little nostalgic feeling of a brand new adventure like the first time you jumped into Pokemon, with the added benefit of you actually having to go places to find more and rarer Pokemon (unless you want to hermit in your house popping incense all the time.)

As for the micro-transactions, thankfully they're really not needed. You gain a good amount of items as you level up and Pokestops drop items for you. The only thing you may have to buy is backpack upgrades, Incense, Lure Modules and possibly Lucky Eggs (if you want to XP grind) or Incubators, however those last 4 you also get through level ups. I'm also glad they didn't do a whole "money whore" thing by charging you way too much money. You can spend $10 and be able to get a good amount of items, where as I'm sure other games would try to charge you $30+ for 1-3 items.

Is the game dumb, or the people that play it?
