Bang on this. You're entitled to annual leave but I always answer my employers call. Besides, they usually honor the annual leave you missed (even if it's only a couple hours left in the working day) by giving you another full day to compensate.

100% depends on the job. As other people have said, if she's a doctor, paramedic or something high level like that then yeah, she's needed and will be getting paid well for it. But if it's a lower end job like retail etc, I'd personally be ignoring it.
