Craig wrote Well. It would stop mass shootings like it has in the majority of the world. Just saying.

Eliminating the legal purchase of assault rifles should be taken seriously, seeing as how this 18 year old managed to acquire one and maimed 15 students. I'm 50/50 on this whole 'gun control' debate; I do agree that SOME weapons, especially ARs, need to be eliminated from being legal. But, I don't believe eliminating all guns would be a way to completely stop individuals from murdering others; yes, it's a sure fire way to reduce shootings, but it doesn't stop terrorist attacks from still happening.

I agree with you on that comment in the quote to an extent, seeing as how eliminating legal weaponry would only create a quick stream of illegal weapons flowing into the U.S. And while there are agencies handling these kinds of illegal transports of weapons, there's always a few thousand sneaked into the mainland United States.

The new number is 17 students dead.
12 died at the school.
2 outside.
1 on the street.
2 at the hospital.
There is no clear motive, the suspect is 19 years old (not 18 as previously stated), former student and he was expelled due to disciplinary problems and he used an AR-15 rifle and he had multiple magazines.

This shooting has surpassed Columbine and has become the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, with 17 dead students. It's a sad day.

This is horrible, I saw this on the news when I woke up earlier and was just disgusted.

Very sad and I hope those families affected are doing okay.

No shit. I would have never guessed that if you got rid of guns that there would be no more shootings.

Getting rid of guns is not the answer. It never has been the answer, and never will be the answer. Even if you got rid of all the legal guns, there are so many illegal guns.

Lets say that somehow you manage to ban all guns (illegal and legal), people would still use other weapons.

Take a look at this mass murder in Japan...

The guy killed 8 people and injured 15 all with a kitchen knife. Sure that is not as many as the Florida shooting, but it is still significant.

The problem is not the gun, just like the knife was not the problem in the Osaka mass murder. Mental health is the problem. Nobody in their right mind would even think of doing something like this. This guy was obviously messed up in the head.

Not all gun owners want to go shoot up schools, just like not all cops are terrible people, or how not all Americans are fat.

Please try to be reasonable and come up with some actual ways to prevent mass shootings.

Getting rid of guns is not reasonable, and it would be very very difficult if not impossible.

Ancestor, I agree with you on most things, but this is not one of them.

Is 18 years old not enough? If he is old enough to be drafted to fight in a war, should he not be able to buy himself a rifle? What is your definition of "ARs"? Is it a scary black tactial gun? Are you talking about all "assualt rifles"? Or since the guy used a AR-15 are you talking about Armalite Rifles? Most people have hopped on the ban AR-15s band wagon because of the way they look now because of what they actually are. Hell, most people probably think that the AR in AR-15 means assualt rifle.

Take a look at the picture below...

All of the guns above are relatively the same. But some people would look at a few of those guns and have a completely different opinion than they would with the other. Based purely off of the looks.

Take a look at this video below...

It proves my point even further.

As for the part about the inward flow of illegal guns. I'm sure it would happen, but I would not be too worried about it. We have so many illegal guns in the states that we would not need to import any. And besides, do you really think that legal gun owners are just going to give up their guns? The answer is no, many previously legal gun owners will become illegal gun owners. They will not give up their guns.

I understand that you want to ban SOME guns, and I agree. But I feel like the guns that are currently banned for the most part should be banned, and the guns that are not banned should stay unbanned.

Like what?

Assuming he has not committed any serious crimes, he probably passed a background check.

The problem is not the guns, it is his mental health.

You can be the perfect person on paper, never committed any crimes, got good grades, etc, and no one would ever know what you are thinking. If someone wants to hide their intentions enough, then they can keep secrets from everyone. This guy needed mental health care. Had that happened, this mass shooting might have not happened.

This is truly sickening, devastating, and frightening.
It almost makes my family and I never want to leave the house again. Trust no one. Our children are being shot up for no reason because a child themselves cannot handle their life the appropriate way. People need to PAY ATTENTION. I am almost positive this person showed signs of declining mental health before this event happened. But yet, it still occurred. The person was not even allowed on campus, but yet he was still there. He was not a student, but yet he was still there. Schools need to PAY ATTENTION to who is on their campus. Have school IDs to enter the campus, metal detectors, anything to restrict this event from happening again in every way possible. I know metal detectors may be much, but I believe nothing is too much than having the children of our country safe and not have to fear for their life every single day they are in the classroom. I hope this continues to open people's eyes to the dangers that can happen literally anywhere. Have a good day, and please, stay safe.
