If you're asking to sue the guy that put the bandages on no I don't think so as she let him tend the wound.

If you were in the US and this happened at her place of business you could sue EASILY. Been on both sides. Not sure how things are in GB though. At the very least she can get her med bills paid no doubt. Go find a lawyer.

James wrote Only way I could see you trying to sue for this is if it was a mechanical malfunction with something she was doing. She burned herself at work but what was she doing? If she burned it on a coffee pot then you can't sue, and someone wrapping a burn a little tightly isn't really a probable cause to sue.

Hope this helps a little, hope she feels better soon.

She burned her hand on a coffee pot it was an accident in fairness someone bumped into her, the thing I was concerned about was it's a massive company and about 50 people working and no one on shift was actually first aid trained. Thanks for your answer though much appreciated

As far as i'm aware, each shift should have someone that is first aid trained booked on. Or at least that's how it is where I work. So, the duty manager, or someone should have a level of basic first aid. I think the person that wrapped it up just lacked common sense. If he claimed that he was first aid trained and he wasn't then that's wrong, but as for legal action I don't think it would get very far. I'm thinking it is a civil matter but there could be a loss of earnings involved. Seek legal aid or speak to the citizens advice bureau first, they are both free and will help you out

Claims are made at the work place all the time in the UK. It all really depends if she/staff took notes, how, when, why it happened. And also the damage it's left. The guy who "treated" it, not so much. Most first aid trained are not trained for burns. Their instant thought it to wrap it up, keep it clean to try avoid infections.

Most first aid courses are bandage, plasters, stop bleeding, CPR and recovery position. When i did mine years ago we were never trained for burns.

If it wasn't your girlfriends fault then you should 100% follow it up. Maybe contact injury solicitor?
