So I've had a debt on my head for about 3 years. It's like £400 to pay to a phone company then they won't even allow me to pay it because it's been so long.. I went to apply for a PC on finance.
I can afford the monthly pay back; but with that debt over my head I can't get a PC, and I can't afford the PC full price. I wanted to start streaming and try to make some money and play my fav games but no. Idk just makes me sad :sad face: |

What do you mean they won't allow you to pay it? If your phone is the only line of credit you've ever had that would've done so serious damage it can take years to fix your credit rating. |

Also they won't let me pay it I filled out all the info and then it got declined.. sad times Edit: I do have money in my account to pay for it monthly just can't pay the whole thing in one go. |

If your credit rating is bad, the COVID situation hasn't helped at all an awful lot of people are getting declined for finance/ credit etc at the moment. There will 100% be a way to pay off that debt you already have (but unfortunately I have no idea how!) the people on r/UKPersonalFinance are amazing and will give you some good advice on your situation. (Sorry if I'm not allowed to recommend someone to go to Reddit!) |

Just get someone you know to buy it for you on finance and just setup a recurring payment to whoever does, easy |

Do you have to go into your bank maybe to settle it? I would try to get this sorted out ASAP as your credit is probably bad right now, and that's gonna be way more of a problem in the future when you want to finance something a lot more important than a PC.
Call/go into your bank(after lockdown if you're affected) and get that sorted ASAP. Check your credit score, through your banks website if you can. Save. Save. Save. You don't need your PC right away, it would be nice sure, but get the important things sorted and keep saving. Maybe in a few months you can build a better PC than you finance. |

I'd do as previously stated, try to contact them and sort it out once again. Citizens Advice might be able to help, I'd personally just save up and build it bit by bit. That's why I did, honestly it means a lot more to me. But I was always told never spend money you don't have (never take finance out) |

Aao wrote You've got bigger issues than a PC. Here's what you do. Work out what's coming in & what's going out Work out why your in debt and a plan on getting that cleared ASAP Sign up, if you havn't already, to credit rating providers. There's load's of free one's about. I personally use CreditKarma Clearscore Experian Get your credit rating up Work out if you can actually afford to have a gaming PC Put money aside a month to get said PC in one hit rather than going via finance. As someone that got the majority of his PC components on finance when I was new to the game, this is a slippery slope to go down and if you're being declined, it's probably for a good reason. Get yourself sorted then work on your reward for that later on. |
