I'm building a new PC and thought I'd share the timeline with you guys!
So I recently won an insane MSI 3080 Surpim X GPU in a competition online for less than a dollar https://www.thetechgame.com/images/chat/smiles/kekleo.png As amazing as this is, it means I need to upgrade/start a completely new build to make this monster of a card worth having, whilst still being on somewhat of a budget. So throughout the build i'll be using a mixture of new components, heavily vetted eBay finds and ones scavenged from my current setup to eventually get to the end product I'll try to explain my thought process behind each iteration of the build and if you guys have any advice along the way please feel free to tell me! Into the rabbit hole I go! Stay tuned for updates! |

After getting RAM advice from the SB nerds my plan and parts list goes a little something like this;
Cooler: 280mm AIO (Undecided on exact model) MoBo: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS ATX Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Storage: Crucial P2 250GB M.2 NVME SSD + Crucial P2 1TB M.2 NVME SSD GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3080 10GB SUPRIM X Case: Corsair 4000D ATX MID PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 PE 750W 80+ Gold Fans: Undecided but 360mm intake with AIO + 120mm exhaust This isn't set in stone and open to change as the build goes on if budget allows Case and MoBo are purchased awaiting delivery https://www.thetechgame.com/images/chat/smiles/pepegapls.gif |

Loke wroteSedg wrote Personally don't think anymore is necessary right now tbh. I'm going for 2x SSD's, a 250GB for the OS and drivers etc, then a 1TB for games/everything else which is plenty for my current usage |

Case has arrived and I'm very happy with it aesthetically, nice sleek design with lots of areas to cable manage
This is the Corsair 4000D, I was able to pick this up on sale for 65GPB/80USD on amazon To put into scale how big this GPU actually is - more parts to come in the mail next week |

Sedg wrote going to be a bit harsh with this case. I have a 4000x for my office build. Able to hold a high SP but as far as airflow that depends on the fans you use. The included fans are usually corsairs base models. The cable management can be efficient if you have the time. That back panel tends to bulge a bit towards the drive cages if you're using thicker non slimline cables. Personally i bought a fitted set from cablemod to make it work, you will need a motherboard that supports the awkward 3.2 type C connector. The cable is bulky and unless you don't care about cable management that one is annoying. There are no real grommets or cable grooves, just a single cable track in the back. If you plan to use multiple fans, you might want to grab a PWM splitter and run it off the MB instead of the included solution(if your case came with it the node i should say). IO is pretty bog standard for them, the higher tier models, 5000/7000 come with a better layout up top, personally i like having more than one type A slot. The top has minimal space if you're squeezing in a proper sized ATX board it will essentially drag on the bottom of the PSU shroud if you aren't careful. I have a d15s for my cooler, it sits a little less than 6mm from the edge of the case fan housing. Making it a pain to connect the CPU power. Had to run the cable as connected before i set the motherboard in place with the cooler. list
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor ($395.99 @ Adorama) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black 82.51 CFM CPU Cooler ($99.95 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard ($139.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($83.99 @ Corsair) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($83.99 @ Corsair) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($70.00 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($114.25 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 870 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($100.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 870 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($100.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB Founders Edition Video Card ($500.00) Case: Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Super Flower Leadex Titanium 850 W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully Modular BTX Power Supply ($199.99 @ Newegg Sellers) Case Fan: Corsair LL120 43.25 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack ($97.99 @ Newegg) Case Fan: Corsair LL120 43.25 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack ($97.99 @ Newegg) Total: $2216.10 I could've gone with the noctua P12s i had from my last build, better performance overall. I just wanted color, though that's my preference currently. If you're going for aesthetics then you're more than likely going to end up shilling out more than you need. The b550 Pro-A is virtually the exact same board without the preinstalled IO shield and shroud covering it. In your case i would swap out a couple of things unless you're really wanting to drop more money, swap out some stuff here and there. 1.25TB isn't really enough, though storage needs is up to the user, i have 3.5 and i still tend to run out of space here or there on my storage drives. I would go with something similar to this to cut price. The fans are completely optional though they're relatively low price and perform great. Memory is another optional choice, just went with what you had at the time listed. PSU is optional as well, depends on what you feel you need. The TT PSU you had listed isn't bad, though I do not like their stock cables, they're just ugly, thin but ugly. Corsair has this issue as well, i'd recommend getting a custom length set, especially for this cases subpar management. You could install some 2.5" SSDs in the back on their brackets or go and get corsairs 2in1 3.5" tray to support them in the 3.5" rack in the bottom.
