E3 2016: Xbox One S Will Not Have Dedicated Kinect Port

At the top of Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2016 yesterday, one of the expected announcements was the reveal of the Xbox One S, a smaller, more compact version of Microsoft’s console that will also seem to be eschewing built-in support for the Kinect.

In an update from the Xbox Wire, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox One S will not feature a built-in port for Kinect like the previous iteration of the console, with the company confirming that the port was excluded “to make the Xbox One S as compact as possible.”

The company explained however that Kinect will still be supported on the Xbox One S, with Microsoft to offer Kinect owners a USB adapter that can be obtained for free through their website once the Xbox One S launches this August.

Cyimking Ah. This is because the kinect was a fail and everyone knows it. Do they still even sell the kinect? in 2 years, everyone will be walking around with VR tech. What someone needs to do is make the internet virtual like Futurama. Maybe i'll do it

On 360? Yes. On Xbox One, VERY useful. I've never had any problems with the Xbox One Kinect except how it would rarely not pick up voice commands. Other than that, I consider it a must have.

To be honest, I've been using the Xbox One Kinect as a mic and it's 100 times better than the 360 because there isn't any excess noise than made the 360 Kinect so annoying

That's awesome that they are willing to give users free cables if we have a Kinect so that way you don't have to go out and buy one. Everyone hates on the Kinect but I think it is one of the most useful things to have
