Sony is “aggressively” getting into mobile, praises Pokemon GO

Sony CEO Kaz Hirai said that the company is “aggressively” pushing into the mobile space, and praised Pokemon Go’s success.

“It’s quite a shift from being just a console-based business to being on mobile phones as well,” he told the Financial Times [paywall] at the IFA consumer electronics expo, as reported by Gamespot.

Hirai is particularly interested in emulating the success of Pokemon Go, which has gone from strength to strength.

“Pokemon Go is a real game-changer,” he added. “I’m very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally.”

Hirai also said that Pokemon Go’s success is something the whole games industry benefits from, calling the game’s AR feature a “great innovative idea”.

Lost I think they could release a fully blown Pokemon game and it would sell relatively well since most people have smartphones at this point. Not like they'd have to go out and buy a console that supports it.

Yep. I would honest to god buy a $60 Pokemon game if it was on Android or iOS. I'd say it'd be an expensive app but it would be a REAL Pokemon game. Not this GO stuff. Legit. I've been saying it to myself for years, will buy it. Ain't changing my mind anytime soon. Waiting for the day.

Would love to see some other games like pokemon go but different
