Red Dead Redemption 2 Could Sell 15 Million Copies

Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t even a day old in its announcement and it’s already projected to be a major success. Whether you disagree or not on whether it should include online play, research firm Cowen & Company believes it could sell at least 15 million units and that the multiplayer component will lead it to further success.

The firm noted that this number may be “conservative” since the Red Dead Redemption name has been “grow[ing] in stature over the years” thanks to glowing critical and fan reception. The first game managed to sell 13 million copies as of February 2012. Couple that with the success of Grand Theft Auto 5, which has shipped 65 million unites and is evidence of “increased concentration of unit sales in top titles since Red Dead Redemption’s release in 2010″ according to Cowen.

You can also expect Red Dead Redemption 2 to bring in more money aside from the initial unit sales thanks to the online experience. Whether this will be similar to Grand Theft Auto Online’s ability to purchase GTA$ with real world money remains to be seen but Rockstar stands to make a mint regardless.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out in Fall 2017 for Xbox One and PS4.

yea i notice how everyone is calling the second game and rdr the first game well red dead revolver is the first then red dead redemption and then red dead redemption 2/3 cuz it should be called 3

I wouldn't be suprised at all to be honest. The game looks great looking at the RDR 2 images. It would be nice to see that sort of game to reach that.

Im guessing 20 to 30 mil simply because how much coverage the teases were getting and how much praise the original got redemption that is.

Grimlock well of course, first one was one of the best games ever made. Hopefully this one will top it.


You guys both do know Red Dead Redemption was the second game and not the first right? Red Dead Revolver never gets any love. :/

Same here, but we are probably going to have to wait for the online mode to come out, kind of like GTA5. Hopefully there is no interruptions like last time, but there probably will, unless Rockstar has there head on straight.

Still playing the first since it became bc on xbox one. Will def pick this up when it comes out! The first one has been great so far! The story could use a little improvement imo, its all over the place. But good nonetheless!
