Nintendo says it has no plans to add new levels to Super Mario Run

4.6
Last week, Nintendo launched its much-anticipated new mobile game featuring the world's most popular plumber. Super Mario Run debuted on iOS, and will launch on Android devices next year.

Within hours of its App Store launch, the game shot to the top of the charts in many parts of the world. But if you were hoping that Nintendo was planning to maintain the game's popularity by adding new levels in the future, you're out of luck.

Despite demand for a Mario mobile game intensifying in recent years, praise hasn't exactly been universal for Nintendo's first effort. The company attracted criticism from many who were irked by the fact that they could download the game free, and pay a few levels without charge, before being asked to pay $9.99 to unlock the full game. Reviews on the App Store have also been mixed, with the game currently rated at 2.5 stars out of 5.

But it looks like this is as good as it gets for the game, with no new additions on the way. A spokesperson for the company told The Wall Street Journal that Nintendo has no plans to release additional free or paid-for content for Super Mario Run.

That doesn't necessarily mean that this is the end of Mario's mobile adventures, though. While Nintendo has apparently ruled out any expansions to Super Mario Run, the company could still release other mobile games starring Mario and friends.

Bonds So they make a lot of money from this game and they aren't gonna make more content for it, it's not the smartest thing to do.

It was a free game to be fair, they will have made some money I assume through advertising but weather it's turned into a profit I'm not sure.

dah That's not a bad price for a game yo unlock. I wouldn't mind paying that sort of price. I think it's a standard price for an app game. Which I did have a phone now. I used to play games on my phone but not anymore. RIP phone. :/ I'm happy for Mario, they're doing well for themselves already.

It's the fact that after buying a game they are not adding any additional content, they sound like they made a game to grab as much money as possible and leave it at that, if they want people to like the game they will need to add more levels as it doesn't take long to complete the ones they have already

Hopefully they change their mind for this since I can imagine people playing all the levels and not having anything else to do.
