Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered may soon be set to receive a selection of new maps and melee weapons, after a group of users data mined the first-person shooter’s recent 1.06 title update.

A group of hackers and dedicated Call of Duty players, led by YouTube user SamuelTDope – who was also responsible for data mining the FN FAL assault rifle from Modern Warfare 2 in the remastered shooter – recently found data files pointing to the Creek, Chinatown, Broadcast and Killhouse maps, which featured in the original Modern Warfare’s Variety Map Pack DLC on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

It is currently unclear as to whether publisher Activision and developer Raven intend on releasing the levels as a free or paid DLC, but the fact that they weren’t at all present in the game’s 1.05 version suggests they have only recently been added to the studio’s development road map.

Meanwhile, the same group of users also found data and texture files pointing to a number of new weapons, including a hatchet, sickle and sword.

These items look likely to join Modern Warfare Remastered’s recently introduced repertoire of melee weapons – which currently include a shovel, hammer and various knives – in the near future.
