The Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 is less than two weeks away. On Jan. 12, Nintendo will finally reveal official details regarding the upcoming Nintendo Switch, including the games that will be available upon the hybrid console's launch, its retail price, and its release date.

The event will see Nintendo either confirm or debunk the rumors that have been swirling around the Nintendo Switch, but Redditors have discovered that perhaps Nintendo has already revealed one of the most important details regarding the hybrid console.


intendo did not reveal the release date of the Nintendo Switch on MyNintendo, but a discrepancy could be pointing to the specific date that the hybrid console will be launched.

MyNintendo is a rewards program rolled out by Nintendo that allows players to accumulate points by buying and playing games. The points can then be used to download digital games and avail certain discounts.

The rewards that MyNintendo offers in exchange for points usually expire at the end of each month. However, when Redditor King_Of_Rad_Lions was browsing through his MyNintendo rewards, he found that many of the rewards recently added to the program expire in the middle of the month, specifically on March 16.

In a thread that he started on the Nintendo sub-Reddit, he then speculated that perhaps the March 16 end date for the MyNintendo rewards means that Nintendo will be rolling out rewards related to the Nintendo Switch, along with the hybrid console itself, on the next day, March 17.

The analysis of King_Of_Rad_Lions and his conclusion that the Nintendo Switch will be released on March 17 coincides with the stated March 2017 release date of the hybrid console, as previously stated by Nintendo.

The release date for the Nintendo Switch of March 17 somewhat falls in line with the statements made by Laura Kate Dale, a freelance video game writer, in a recently held AMA on Reddit. She said that the hybrid console will be launching on March 17 but for the United Kingdom, adding that the release in Japan and North America will be in the same week.

It was previously thought that the Nintendo Switch will be released in the United States on March 12 though, considering the fact that Nintendo launched the Wii and the Wii U on Sundays. However, with Nintendo now having moved its releases to Fridays instead of Sundays as pointed out by Redditor Ryu-E, the March 17 release date is also a possibility.
