There’s one big reason you can’t pre-order the Xbox One X yet

4.3
Despite getting a big, splashy reveal during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference, you still can’t pre-order the new Xbox One X, formerly known as Project Scorpio, at any retailers. In fact, you can’t even pre-order it from Microsoft’s own store, and the placeholder listing there reveals one very important reason why.

According to a notice on the page, the Xbox One X “has not been approved by the Federal Communications Commission. It is not for sale until FCC approval has been obtained.” That means selling pre-orders at this time would seemingly be illegal, so looking around for alternate retailers won’t do you any good. Several stores do have forms where you can sign up to be notified once pre-orders do go live.

So when, exactly, will that be? Since we’re relying on FCC approval, there’s no good way to know when the console will be cleared for sale. At the moment, Microsoft is only promising “later this year,” according to a report from Game Rant citing IGN’s live E3 coverage. That’s vague enough to be concerning. Will we have to wait months, rather than days or weeks, to reserve an Xbox One X? That’d be a real bummer, especially considering all the momentum Microsoft generated with its strong press conference showing.

At the very least, you can (probably) expect to see pre-orders go live at some point before the Xbox One X’s planned release on November 7th, 2017. The system, which is capable of running games in native 4K, will also see support for a number of already-launched games, both first- and third-party, in the form of free updates that enhance the graphics and resolution.

That kinda funny on why they can't. I can wait though but this will be my first console I get on day one and I can't wait :)

Not that fussed that we may have to wait because we've already got to wait plenty of time before it even comes out.

The FCC holds the future of Microsoft, but I can not see any reason for them to deny it. It's a console, most likely it will be approved and probably up for pre-orders within the year.

Hmm Me and alot of people won't be amused if they denied it lol, But of course it won't get denied.

I wonder what would happen if it was denied, hopefully pre-orders are soon!
