PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Dev gives Xbox One price details

PUBG developer Bluehole has no plans to increase the price on PC or Xbox One.

Battlegrounds creator Brendan Green told GamesIndustry.biz that there are no plans to go down the same path as ARK Survival Evolved and increase its price.

"We don't have a plan to increase at the moment," he said. "That could change, but from my understanding, and from what we've talked about internally, we want to keep the same price."

Green said that $30 is a good price, especially for a game with such long-term appeal.

"We're happy. $30 is a good price for what you're getting, and this is a game that could last for five or ten years. You're buying into something bigger than just a year-long game."

he slightly lower price point and word of mouth has seen PUBG become one of the most popular games on Steam.

But despite its popularity, Green still thinks it can reach more people, and perhaps even compete with the likes of League of Legends.

"Our sales curves are just going up," he continued. "They're not slowing down. I'm still waiting for that plateau, and it's just not happening yet.

"When you ask about growth on PC, I just look at League of Legends. 100 million active users a month, I think, something stupid like that?

"If we play our cards right, maybe we can get to that level of users."

30 for a game is a price that people don't think twice about, especially for something so popular. They see it as half the price of other new games nowadays, which are already almost too expensive.

Announcing a lower than standard price ahead of time like this will only make the hype move faster

Honestly feel like they could charge the full 60 for this, assuming they continue to do monthly patches.
