Kinect breaking 'older' Xbox 360 consoles?

according to third party reports, a number of of Xbox 360 owners are claiming that Kinect broke their system. A thread on the official Xbox forums contains a number of players saying their system died after plugging Kinect in. One example is as follows - "At the weekend I spent £130 on a Kinect and a further £30 on Dance Central, so when I got home I excitedly plugged it into my Xbox... However within 5 minutes it froze up and when I turned it on again it had the dreaded 3 red rings showing." Following this, another user responded confirming the same event!

My xbox froze too but im experienced with the rrod so i knew to turn my xbox off quickly!

What it means by older consoles is the 2006 and the first released ones are the ones that are having problems. I have had Kinect on my 2007 model and so far so good running very well.

I wait till they see problems, diagnose them, fix them, then when it's 100% unharmful, i think about buying it.


Good man.. I do that too especially with the iPhone..POS when it came out but progressively getting fixed

MY Kinect was a Gift so I didn't buy it, but my Xbox hasnt RROD yet, I don't see why it would? Unless those consoles were old and couln't handle the awesomenss of Kinect lol
