One crazy stat proves just how strong Nintendo’s comeback is

4.3
September had one clear winner in the world of video game sales: Nintendo.

According to the latest news from the sales-tracking NPD Group (via Business Wire), sales of Nintendo systems made up a whopping two-thirds of hardware sales for the entire month. The Nintendo Switch alone passed the 2 million units sold mark (and, as the company notes, that’s without going through a single holiday season yet), while the hot new Super NES Classic Edition added a big boost to sales and the 3DS family continued to perform reliably.

This makes September the third straight month that the Nintendo Switch has been the number one best-selling console, but the train doesn’t stop there. Nintendo Switch games also held several spots in the list of best-selling games for the month, with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle coming in at number 7, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at number 10, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at number 11.

The rest of the NPD report will be released publicly soon, letting us know what other games filled the top ten best selling spots, but the hardware sales alone make September a huge month for Nintendo. It’s likely that October and November will continue the trend, with Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, Switch versions of Doom and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon all releasing within the next month, so we’ll just have to watch and see whether all the new offerings will continue to rocket Nintendo to the top.

I figured Nintendo would win. The switch is the hottest thing out right now.

Decy That's pretty impressive for nintendo but 2 million is no where near close to the 220 million they are predicting.

I'm just curious where you got the 220 million unit prediction? Xbox One alone hasn't even reached 100 million...Neither has the PS4 and they have a lot of lead on them.
