While every leaked and officially released Black Friday ad has been thoroughly scanned with hopes of seeing a price cut of the Nintendo Switch, no matter how small, the sales search turns up empty. It appears as though those money-saving hunts are going to keep turning up empty as well with Nintendo saying that they’re more worried about keeping the Nintendo Switch stocked on shelves as opposed to simply discounting it.
Speaking to the Washington Post, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime gave a short and sweet statement about the Nintendo Switch to explain their plans for the holidays.
“We are not discounting the Switch,” Fils-Aimé said. “We're focusing on making sure we have robust supply at retail.”
A robust supply would certainly be welcome during the holidays, even if you have to pay full price for it. The console has still been one of the most sought-after devices this year, so it’s no wonder that they’d try to make sure they can simply keep it on the shelves instead of cutting the price by a bit. Hopefully those stock efforts include working on the supply of Nintendo Switch bundles as well so that gamers can pick up some Super Mario Switch and Splatoon 2 bundles to get started with some of the best games that the Switch has to offer.
But while you won’t be finding any discounts on the console itself, that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to find some games for lesser prices. Several Black Friday deals that have been released so far have included discounts on games like Sonic Forces, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and Batman: The Telltale Series that recently made their way to the Switch, so if you already have the console or don’t mind paying full price for one during the mad rush on Black Friday, stocking up on some games should be a breeze.
