GTA Online had more players in December than at any other time since

3.7
Four years on, GTA Online continues to set new player records.

GTA Online, the big thing that keeps GTA 5 selling at retail and topping digital charts on PSN, Steam and elsewhere isn’t just popular, it’s actually gaining new players.

In a recent blog post, Rockstar revealed that 2017 was the biggest year for GTA Online. The developer did not say if that’s referring to revenue, player numbers or something else. But, it quickly added that December saw more players in the game than any other time.

December is also when GTA 5 received the Doomsday Heist, the first heist to be added to the game since Heists initially launched. It was a surprise release, too.

Again, we don’t have any hard numbers since these are typically not shared, but you can look at the game’s Steam activity and the most played games on Xbox Live for an idea.

Rockstar recently released the Lampadati Viseris, an in-game car that players can now buy and use in races. It’s among the fastest cars in GTA Online, and it’s not as expensive as new releases tend to be.

Botox Althought i thought the game died, i think it has room for a comeback. I played the heck out of the game online till i reached level 300+ note that i did do replayed glitches etc but never modded my money or level. But i stopped playing early 2017 summer but after reading patch notes etc. I think people should realize the game wasn't meant to get on play for a month or two and have everything. No you're supposed to build organizations, crews, heists etc. The game has a tons of stuff todo. Until they stop updating, it's not gonna die off. Yet

Its not dead but I just find it unplayable now. They are adding way too many cars and stuff thats so expensive its literally impossible to rack up the cash to even buy them, you have to buy shark cards now just to enjoy the game. I know heists are still a thing but its so hard to find a team that will stay rather then quitting because you die. Racing is also another way of getting cash but you only win a minimal amount that can probably buy you a few clips of AR ammo and thats it. They need to find and implement better ways that can get you cash, and ways that will give you the big bucks rather than having to grind something out so hard.

I used to grind this game like no tomorrow. I am glad to see new players are experiencing the grind as well. After a while though, it just gets dull.

They went on for the snowball fights haha.

I didn't think it would get so many players again, I thought it died

Surprising because I really never seen anyone play or stream this game anymore.

Famous hahaha that is a joke. How the hell are people still player GTA. It's boring after 3 years of playing it.

More the less boring, they're still adding new things that are ridiculously expensive; meaning more people play, they grind out for longer, hence keeping the fan-base 'alive.'

No one wants to play anymore
Snow comes out
Everyone gets back on. Simple.

Wasnt this game on sale on steam during December? That would be why more people were on it.

Surprised to see this, Christmas is probably the high point of GTA since the snow comes to LA.
