New Xbox360 dashboard beta steps up anti-piracy effort

Players who are part of the Xbox Live Preview Program who received the Xbox Live Dashboard update carried a new feature that will disappoint the pirates.

As the new format disc is coming on the Xbox 360, a new Anti-Piracy check has been implemented that prohibit the pirates from playing a backed up copy of the game. In addition to the new anti-piracy check, the DVD firmware on every drive of the Xbox 360 will be rewritten. The purpose of the new firmware that will be installed on the DVD drive will allow the system to unlock the extra 1GB of data on a DVD dual layered games. With that being said, players who installed a modified firmware that allows them to play a back up disc will no longer work.

With the ongoing battle of Microsoft against the pirates, the new dashboard update that eventually everyone will get will have this new security firmware. The question is, how long until hackers can crack this new DVD firmware?

no you wont be able to play modded iso until new LT or something is released

so what if i go online with a regular burnt xbox 360 game will anything happen cuz its says anyone with a modified dvd firmware it wont work and that what i have please respond



I'm pretty sure to go online you will need to update ur xbox dash and if you do it will undo the flash, and until the new FW is released, you wont be able to play online

C4EVA will crack it, whats sad is the extra 1GB of data doesnt matter... My DL disk's hold 8.5gb's or 7.9 net. And their new discs will have 7.89GB's so the extra gigabyte doesnt matter.

But when you update they activate AP2.5 in all games POST FIFA 09.

and They reset your drives key to 16 0's and it cant read games, so before people update their systems whenever you get the new dash MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR DVD KEY.

Its already got a small fix, all you have to do is re-flash your dvd key with LT+ 1.1 and you can play back ups again (with the exception of AP 2.5 games)
