Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Now Backwards Compatible on Xbox One

The announcement came via Major Nelson of Xbox on Tuesday, August 28, with the title going live on the Xbox One on the same day.

Fans have been requesting MW2 as a Backwards Compatible title for years, and will now have the opportunity to play the game on the Xbox One.

It has been reported that a player's statistics will remain the same in the Backwards Compatible version of MW2 as they were on the Xbox 360, meaning that if your account was banned previously, it still will be.

All MW2 DLC will also be playable in the BC version, however, a player must already have purchased it in the past.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was originally released in 2009, and gained a substantial amount of fanfare for its new take on the CoD franchise.

Everyone is so hyped but guess what, that's just going to make modders move back to MW2 since it's now backwards compatible and just ruin an awesome game. I can't really talk since I hosted mods on here for a while, even on MW2 but it does suck that one of my favourite childhood games is pretty much ruined.

Xbox I've been waiting and wanting this for years but at the same time it's not going to cut out all of the modders which is why I stopped playing this game, if it wasent for them I would be in a S&D lobby right now not even thinking about fortnite.


Not going to bother playing it because of what Xbox said. It's most likely flooded with modders. Great to see them finally add it though.


Hopefully they end up doing something about it, I mean I know at this point it is bound to happen no matter what, but going in and risking getting deranked every time is a bit annoying. Ruins the fun.
