VR Will See Change and Improvement, Sony CEO Promises

VR, while a revelatory product and experience for many right now, is still ultimately niche. A lot of this has to do with the prohibitive cost of most VR headsets, as well as the fact that VR is in its infancy, and currently has a lot of problems. These problems will be addressed in the coming years- at least, that’s what Sony’s CEO Kenichiro Yoshida believes.

Speaking in an interview with The Independent at the IFA technology conference (the same site where he made his remarks about cross platform play that kicked off a frenzy), Yoshida spoke about the state of VR in general, noting that the many problems people feel it has will be improved in coming iterations.

“So there is a lot of room to improve in VR experiences and you will see the change and the improvement,” Yoshida said.

It’s important to note that he doesn’t specify the PlayStation VR by name, which from a branding perspective makes sense- he wouldn’t want his statement to be associated purely with his own company’s offering. That said, to be fair, all VR headsets suffer from a lot of the same problems. Hopefully, Yoshida is right, and those problems will be ironed out in the coming years.

The PS VR recently crossed an important sales milestone.

I hope so, although I'm not a vr fan I'm glad too see they aren't just dropping it.

If VR is ever at a point where it's like Ready: Player One I think I would cream myself. Right now VR is way too expensive for the average user though.

It needs to before I buy into it, still in it's early stages but I think it could be a big thing in years to come.
