Zombies drop loot when killed in Call of Duty

3.9
Treyarch has revealed a few more details about how zombies will factor into the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 battle royale mode, Blackout.

We recently learned that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode will indeed feature zombies. While many assumed the treat of zombies could replace the ever-encroaching gas/force field to force players towards the centre of the map, it turns out Treyarch’s implementation is a little more nuanced.

According to Game Informer‘s preview, zombies will only spawn at specific locations. Naturally, these locations are inspired by the series’ Zombies mode to begin with, such as the Asylum, and the Lighthouse.

You’ll see a ray of light, which is a clear tell that zombies can be found at that spot. It won’t be a big horde, however, just a few of them (five to eight) milling around.

Of course, if you decide to engage, you could potentially alert other players to your presence. There’s a possible reward to your risk, however, as zombies will drop loot. If you’re lucky, you may get Zombies-specific weapons and items like the Zweihandler gun or monkey bombs (via Charlie Intel).

There’s also another interesting wrinkle. In Blackout, you’ll be able to take on challenges to unlock new characters from Treyarch’s history. When it comes to Zombies characters, playing as one of them will require completing certain tasks around Blackout zombies, including engaging them.

Treyarch also confirmed to Game Informer that Blackout may not always run at 60fps, but it won’t be locked to 30fps or any other frame-rate below that.

Blackout’s various elements will be put to the test in the upcoming beta, which goes live next week.

I'm really excited to play this on the 14th. I think having zombies drop loot is a cool feature.

Wizard Tbh I don't know how I feel about this,

It's good to see new features and all but it doesn't really seem needed

I think what makes it good is they are trying to add different aspects to different parts of the map, hopefully it's for the better.

I understand that they're trying new things. But zombies dropping loot is kinda useless but cool at the same time

Chat From what I'm seeing, they're giving us a lot of leaks, information.. which makes me feel like they'v got a lot planned, it's more than they've ever gaven us, I'm excited to try this out, I have higher hopes than I have for the past years of Cod, but I will also give my opinion after I play this later today, I will make a day 1 Post & I will play on xbox one, to compare both aswell as improvements / tweaks they make.

Super pumped to get another Black Ops though :)

I mean, they are kind of forced to give us more information than ever, this is gonna be the biggest cod release just because of blackout, of course they would give us details on it. I really just can't get my hopes up, CoD keeps burying themselves more and more into the ground, I'd rather expect the complete worst and be proven wrong rather than get excited to just be disappointed for the 5th or 6th year in a row

Craig This is gonna make this whole gamemode shit. Dunno if i should even try the beta now. wtf.

Then dont lol . If you cant be optimistic about variety and something new then dont bother playing it. It's 'that' simple.

Well the MP one was utterly crap. Was going to see if this one could revive the game for me. But they seemed to have ruined the whole idea about BR games.

I think this for one is going to be an amazing addition to the setting allowing for more endangered combat between teams whilst having to deal with the zombies as well. High risk, high reward.

It's good to see them adding new features to the game and trying to bring something different out for us, will not give a full opinion until I've played the game tho.

The only issue I have with this is that it will make the majority of people want to go to the same place. Which ruins gameplay. Kind of like fortnite weekly challenges that send everyone to one location to get kills.

Mikey This is pretty cool i guess, still doubt ill be playing BO4 though.

Well dice just said toxic communication is saying, White Man in chat. Not any other race... Racist?
