Nintendo Switch Online Launching Tonight After eShop Maintenance

4
The long-overdue Nintendo Switch Online service will finally launch tonight, allowing players to upload their game saves to the cloud, play select NES titles, and play games online—with some caveats. Though Nintendo announced the date of Tuesday, September 18, the service won’t be live until quite late tonight after three hours of Nintendo eShop maintenance.

According to their support website, the maintenance will occur from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm PST, or 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm EST. After that, membership plans, both Individual and Family, can be purchased directly from the eShop or Nintendo’s own website. Like with eShop games on the Switch, MyNintendo Gold Coins can be used to help pay for a subscription.

Here’s a full rundown on the main features that Nintendo Switch Online has, although the fact that cloud saves will not be compatible with all games is hidden quite well. As a reminder, pricing will be $3.99 a month, $7.99 for three months, $19.99 for 12 months, or $34.99 a year for a Family Membership plan with 2-7 people.

Those who don’t want to pay up yet can enjoy the service for a 7-day free trial—get in all of that Splatoon 2 play while you still can.

Still not overly convinced on getting switch if I'm honest but I think this will be a positive thing for Nintendo and many people seem to be looking forward to this it seems

This doesn't make me any more interested in getting a Switch. There was online play before this, and now they are just going to start charging for it. It's a shame that is how the gaming system model works today. I'm gonna stick with my PC.

people complain about this but we have 0 idea how it is going to even work, arent we going to be getting free games every month like xbl and psn like many said before?(what i heard), plus cheap prices for a year and up to 8 switchs(friends who are broke and cant afford online) hell yeah im excited for the service

Glad this is finally happening, I think it'll improve Nintendo's offering quite the amount.
