'Rainbow Six Siege' Teamkilling Now Qualifies for Insta-ban

4.2
The team over at Ubisoft are starting to roll out the features promised earlier this year to cut down cheating and toxic behavior with their online tactical game, Rainbow Six Siege. Now they are making good on that progress as Y3S3.1 patch goes live and specifically targets teammates that go after their own.

This patch is the first since Year 3 kicked off with Operation Grim Sky and it's not just kicking ass and taking names, it's bringing down the hammer for those that seek to make the game less enjoyable for all.

According to Ubisoft's latest blog entry, "The team killing penalty for a first offense will be adjusted from a kick to a 30 minute ban. Initially, if a player was team killed in Casual, the offender was kicked from the match. The same situation in Ranked would result in a kick as well, but also triggered an abandon penalty. This was confusing because it seemed as if the team killing punishment was different between Ranked vs Casual."

To make it a little easier to understand, they also included a full breakdown:

First offense: Banned from Matchmaking for 30 minutes
Second offense: Banned from Matchmaking for 1 hour
Third offense: Banned from Matchmaking for 2 hours.
Fourth offense: Banned from Matchmaking for 24 hours.
Fifth offense: Banned from Matchmaking for 7 days.

This comes a week after Treyarch mentioned they were taking the necessary steps to avert teamkilling in their upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 'Blackout' mode. With more and more developers stepping up to the plate to take responsibility for their online titles, the gaming community is slowly but surely becoming more about the games and less about toxicity.

Maze Sure is gonna cause some anger for people. Hopefully it all works out in the end with their new system

People shouldn't be team killing in the first place
I do on accident rather often. If you aren't in a party with your team you very often get one guy who just decides to peak a corner you're running and then pop, tk headshot:/

With this level of punishment for tks they might as well just turn off friendly fire. I can think of tons of different scenarios where accidental team kills could happen

You won't get banned right off the bat. This system is for players that intentionally team kill, meaning you kill your teammates atleast 2-4 times and it'll kick you and you'll receive your first offense. When has killing one person kicked you out, it happens that people walk in front of your line of sight, it's the same system but with longer ban times now.

I'm gunna have to give this the official OOF stamp of confused approval...? A step in the right direction for sure but they jumped up like half a staircase here. Seriously? 7 Days? When I'm playing with friends we TK just for fun lol. I guess until they get yelled at for this I'll just have to place my shots more carefully.

That's not good. Unless this is implemented in quick play, this is going to ruin a lot of games, imagine accidentally killing your teammate while breaching. To be fair, i don't accidentally kill teammates that often, maybe a stray bullet off of a quick reaction but not a full blown kill.

We'll see, if they make teammates bullets weaker to teammates maybe, but if i accidentally headshot a teammate one off my diamond game, id flip.

I feel this will do more bad than good. I'm gonna go with more people will get banned for playing legit and accidentally team killing than people will be banned for griefing at this stage now. Then there's also trolls who will run infront of you/into your nades to make you team kill and bam kick. This just gives more power trolls.
