Blacklight dev calls Call of Duty Elite “sad” and “weird”

Jared Gerritzen, lead designer on Zombie Studios’ upcoming free-to-play shooter Blacklight: Retribution, has called Activision a bunch of jerks for introducing premium service Call of Duty Elite.“I don’t agree with it,” Gerritzen told Gamasutra.

“Right now, if they could, they’d charge 60 bucks, then 20 bucks a month for a map pack – or even just one map – and then $9 to upload game movies to YouTube.

“They see this massive fan base, and why aren’t they spending that money and evolving the game even more?”

Although he admits the Call of Duty series is “amazing”, Gerritzen said Activision hadn’t done anything new with the games for at least four iterations.

“That’s the sad part. Think about if they tried to spend that money that they’re trying to milk from the fans,” he said.

“It’s sad. It’s really weird. But there’s always going to be that guy; there’s always going to be the jerk.”

ya im not buying MW3. Why? I dont like paying 60$ for the same 4 games i bought since 2007. Now Battlefield 3 on the other hand... looks like my wallet wont be disappointed

Efffff this game. You no why none of the cods get boring..? Because there all the same game with a different skin. Like same lame shit but lets just change the maps and guns. The system is bad, and thats what needs to be fixed. Bf3 will crush this game sadly to say, I have been a huge cod fan forever but every game has there time to shine, and I think cods has come to a stand still. Its Bf3's time now. Avtivision should just face it until they start to manage there own boat, and make a good game, and clean up there mess, it just gonna keep going in the gutters for them.

Renzzo I agree that this is sad.. I mean like, why offer us to spend 10$ a month for V.I.P privileges and all this cool stuff... I mean like where is our financial benefit.. There is none for us only for the company.. What do you need the extra money for? You guys already broke a sales record.. They might break another one.. Theres your money right there.. So why do they want $60+$10 a month optional fee with Elite... This is all for a game company that can be shut down anytime... It's even worse with this economy..

Why does a business want to make more money? Is that your question?

make it better ???? its going to be ****. cause iam not going to pay 10$ or something each month for the game. thats why i pirate games cause they try to make us pay for everythink.

First of all CoD Elite is not a game. Second,CoD Elite is free, you just have to have for premium features. Third, good luck trying to play a pirated copy of MW3.
