Online open qualifiers for the Fortnite World Cup will run weekly from April 13-July 16, 2019. During each of those weeks a $1,000,000 prize will be eligible with broad payouts. From these qualifiers, the top 100 Solo players and 50 Duos teams from around the world will converge in New York City from July 26-28, 2019 for a prize pool of $30,000,000. Each player will be guaranteed at least $50,000 with the Fortnite World Cup Solo Champion walking away with a whopping $3,000,000.
For those who are not directly participating Epic Games will be hosting events during the Fortnite World Cup Finals that will contain some “custom challenges in different modes and formats.”
Epic Games will also be awarding $1 million weekly in cash tournaments through the end of this year. Instead of straight up competition these tournaments will feature different modes and formats to allow other players to compete and potentially win the massive cash prize.
We will also provide tournament tools and prizing to select partners to better serve competitive Fortnite in more countries and regions around the world on our way to awarding the full $100,000,000 in 2019.
Those participating must be at least 13 years old and those under 17 need a permission slip from their parent or legal guardian, just like whenever you are going to watch a PG-13 movie in public high school. Your Epic account has to be in good standing and have no current penalties for breaking official Epic rules.
Epic recently held a special invitational tournament called the Secret Skirmish with a $500,000 prize to the winner. It was held on February 14-15, 2019 and the winner was solo player @Ghost_Bizzle.
