Modern Warfare 3 Could Break Black Ops Sales Records

On November 8, Activision will ship its latest Call of Duty entry, the Infinity Ward-Sledgehammer Games-developed Modern Warfare 3. That game has large shoes to fill, as its predecessor--Call of Duty: Black Ops--is the best-selling game of all time not only in the United States but also in the United Kingdom.

Modern Warfare 3 is going to be a big hit, says Pachter.
However, Black Ops is not untouchable, according to Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter. He believes Modern Warfare 3 could surpass sales of 20 million units, a figure he predicted Black Ops has sold to date in May. Officially, Black Ops has sold 13.7 million units in the United States. However, the shooter has likely sold many more copies than that, as it has graced the NPD's top 10 software list often since its arrival.

Pachter justified his belief that Modern Warfare 3 will break Black Ops' record "due primarily to the network effect created by the game's remarkable 17 million weekly active unique online players."

Pachter believes that Activision's introduction of Call of Duty: Elite--a stat-tracking and social application--could cause some Call of Duty fans to "defect" to Electronic Arts' Battlefield 3, which ships before Modern Warfare 3 on October 25. The beta for Call of Duty: Elite launches on Thursday.

Modern Warfare 3 outselling Black Ops is not a completely wild prediction. GameStop reported in June that preorder figures for Modern Warfare 3 are tracking ahead of Black Ops'. Additionally, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has previously stated his belief that each entry in the series will outpace the last.

im good at black ops and play it daily but **** hate that game so much. from the graphics to the physics its just horrible. and mw3 IS going to break black ops sales. ITS A MODERN WARFARE game. people are going to buy it because of the title. i loved cod4 and mw2 so i cant wait.

I really wish people would stop trolling on black ops. Its not a bad game not in the least its just bad to you because treyarch has slapped you in the face everytime you tried to mod it or glitch on it

4Sure If MW3 Is Anything Like MW Multi-player, This Game Will Outsell And Break All Records Across The Globe.

Can We Honestly Say In 3 Years Time MW2/BO Are Good Games - No, They Are Ok Games.

I Enjoy MW To This Day And Can Honestly Say It Has Kept Me Entertained For 4 Years And Still Running. The Other Titles I Get Bored With After 3 Months. We Need More Gun On Gun Fights And Less Dogs And CG/AC130 - I Know Games Evolve Which Is Good But I Think They Should Make A Similar Playlist Where The Stock Killstreaks Are Chosen For You (Similar To MW2) However Award Gamers With More XP To Help Encourage More People To Steer Clear From All The Other Madness.

i agree me and my friends still get on MW when every other game makes us not want to play....MW was simplistic and they need to go back to that

I think it will pass way over that. Many MW2 players didnt buy it because of the sniping. I believe MW3 will make x2 as much profit than Black Ops

Stop arguing over which is better, Black Ops and MW2 are the worst Call of Duty's in the entire series. Call of duty 2 was the best and Call of Duty 4 modern warfare were by far the best. I doubt most of you guys have played either for more than an hour or either at all!
