Nintendo featured Super Mario Maker 2 during its first day of Nintendo Treehouse streams at E3 2019. The segment had Nintendo’s senior producer Takashi Tezuka as a guest, and he gave new details on the game.
Takashi Tezuka confirmed that Super Mario Maker 2 will receive an update after launch that will allow players to play online with their friends. It was officially announced on Twitter as well.
It was initially reported that the game won’t have this feature, which sparked bewilderment. It’s a fact Nintendo made plenty of dubious choices regarding online multiplayer in the past, especially on Nintendo Switch releases like Splatoon 2. Many, however, were convinced that this would come later on with an update patch, as Nintendo isn’t stupid. It would have certainly been much better if it was present at launch though.
