Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Reportedly Releasing This Year

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is releasing this year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC with multiplayer, or at least that's what a new rumor is alleging. The news comes fresh off a worrying rumor about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's battle royale mode. Further, it seems like every year recently this rumor surfaces, yet, so far, it hasn't been true. That said, it's back, and Call of Duty fans are crossing everything on their body hoping it's finally going to be true. After all, there's no way better to follow-up a reboot of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare than giving players a reason to jump back into the game that followed the pivotal and iconic first-person shooter.

The rumor comes way of Twitter user Okami. Now, I know what you're thinking. Who the heck is Okami? Well, they are notably the account that leaked news about Gunfight's Alpha last year before it was announced. As a result, many trust the anonymous leaker, who has also been leaking information about Call of Duty: Warzone, the rumored free-to-play and standalone battle royale mode being made by Infinity Ward to compliment Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. For example, Okami recently claimed the mode will drop on March 10 and will be squads only.

Interestingly, Activision did confirm they will announce multiple remasters this year, so this does seem to somewhat line up with this news. Some of these remasters are believed to be Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, but it's certainly plausible Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is in the mix as well.

That all said, like any rumor or report or leak, this new claim should be taken with a grain of salt. While Okami has accurately leaked information in the past, their track-record is far from established and worth putting too much stock into, at least for now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered seems more like an inevitability than an "if" though. In other words, eventually one of these rumors will be right about it.

This is so awesome and so scary. Taking the cod game that truly started it all and risking a remaster...
I have no faith in cod anymore so I'm more on the worried side...

other comment got deleted for some reason, my opinion on this is simple, I don't personally think they should bring this back and that it should stay an nostalgic game something old that brings happiness, remastering this will be the same thing that happened to MWR it will be turned into an awful game with things fixed, added and so on, the things in MW2 today is what makes it so good they'll balance or fix bugs.

I mean I'd love to get a remastered but if they cannot do it simply by updating graphics and not adding more and more content to milk it for money and ruin it, then I'm simply not interested at all.

Sean I take issue with the word "Remastered" not saying Activision cant do them, they did it fine with Crash Bandicoot but what they did to CoD4 Remastered was awful anything to milk money out.


The problem was bringing another company in to do it, i think raven software probably was the one to blame.


MWR was great period. If you thought otherwise the game just wasn't for you my guy. There was a wide part of the fan base for that game that cried over them not adding new things and it being stale. These are also the same people who complained when they added new guns to the game (that you could earn from just playing the game and not paying). Either way loot boxes are not a thing in call of duty anymore which will internally make MW2 Remastered a much better game.


I played the OG CoD4 none stop at release they said it was a remaster when you remaster something its redone within the limits of the original what they did with MWR was disgusting they added new weapons then they resold the DLC that CoD4 had costing more than the original.

If they "remaster" MW2 I expect MW2 not MW2 with new weapons and lots of micro-transaction bullshit.


New weapons keep the game fresh. There's nothing wrong with that. At all. The problem comes with spending $40-60 on the same game with updated graphics.
