The past 3 days or so have been insane in regards to this coronavirus that has been spreading across the world. One day, we’re all wondering if large events, such as E3 2020 are going to be cancelled (it was), the next few days following that saw travel bans, quarantines, and self-isolation. The world is slowly crawling to a halt and the virus continues to spread.
Seattle Times is currently running a live update post that details COVID-19 information on a daily basis from the Seattle area, Washington State, and the nation. One of those updates has stated that a Nintendo employee has tested positive for the virus at Nintendo of America, which is situated in Redmond.
Nintendo confirmed that the employee has had contact with other employees. All the employees who were in contact and tested positive for COVID-19 have self-quarantined themselves, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.
The statement reads, “Nintendo of America is supporting this individual as they recover and will continue to take precautions to safeguard the health and well-being of all our employees and the broader community,”
The company has already confirmed to Kotaku that they’re allowing employees in America to work from home.
“Nintendo of America has taken the precautionary step to allow NOA employees in the states of California and Washington the opportunity to work from home. The safety and wellbeing of our employees is our top priority. We are continuing to closely monitor COVID-19 developments, and share our concerns and support for those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Coronavirus has been spreading fast. We hope those who have tested positive for the virus recover fully, and as always, remember to wash your hands, don’t plan on travelling or visiting places with a large gathering of people, and stay isolated and phone for medical advice if you think you may have symptoms.
