MW2 Remastered Multiplayer Coming This Summer, Says Insider

Activision will reportedly release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered in 2020.

That’s according to credited Call of Duty leaker Okami, who claimed on Twitter that an updated version of Infinity Ward’s game will launch this year and that contrary to previous reports, it will include multiplayer.

European ratings body PEGI reportedly rated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered in February 2019, and subsequent reports claimed the officially unannounced title wouldn’t include online play.

However, if the noted insider is to be believed, plans have since changed.

Update, March 20: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been rated by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee.

Original story continues: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which included single player and multiplayer modes, released for PS4, Xbox One and PC in November 2016, initially as part of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare special editions, before getting a standalone release in the summer of 2017.

During a quarterly earnings call this February, Activision Blizzard chief financial officer Dennis Durkin confirmed plans to release “several remastered and reimagined” titles later this year.



If Okami’s information proves accurate, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will be one of several major Call of Duty launches this year.

Activision announced today that free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone will release this Tuesday, while 2020’s premium Call of Duty offering will arrive in the fourth calendar quarter of the year.

Paws They should have just released it with the campaign. I would definitely get it though if this is true.


I'm hoping they give the people who bought the campaign some sort of discount if they do release the multiplayer this summer or whenever they end up releasing it.


Yeah this would be cool to reward the players that bought the campaign.


Honestly as long as they release the damn MP this summer I don't care how much it costs. I just wanna play it again with the homies and no hacked lobbies.

-Ryu It all just seems unnecessary. This game was made backwards compatible (on Xbox and PlayStation I believe ???) a while ago. Plenty of people got their chance to absolutely bury this game and put it to rest. I think now that a good game has finally been released, Mordern Warfare (2019), it's time to really put the hammer on it. Make it the best game it could possibly be. GTA isn't being cranked out every year, that's because it is good. Thoughts?


I see your point. As much as I'd like to see it get remastered it would solely be for the nostalgia. GTA does a good job at maintaining their audience to stay on the game. GTA V especially. Game is what like 6-7 years old and it's still at the top of the charts? Crazy to see.


I personally think GTAV got stale quick and is so boring, I can literally only play for 10 minutes then I have to DIP.

I absolutely feel ya on the nostalgia part. When i saw backwards compatible, i jumped on that like an addict on drugs. But it ran dry quick. I'd just like to see them perfect the latest piece of quality work

TTG_Rival From waking up early in the morning before school to get a quick TDM game in for a gun camouflage to staying up past 3am on a school night to play S&D with close friends... MW2 was my favorite Call of Duty; however, I have mixed feelings about a remastered multiplayer. My take is that although the game could be remastered, I'm not sure if the community can be. It's something I have thought about a lot over the quarantine and I still don't know where I stand on it. I love MW2 with all my heart and will never forget the memories I made in middle school with it but I don't wanna see it come out to be the next MWR.

We're all searching for that nostalgic feeling, once it fades, the numbers will drop significantly and not as many people would play as they think. It's something that would be cool to see, but it will NEVER be the same game as when we were kids.

It's sad but true but still doesn't mean we won't have a really good COD game to play. My hopes aren't up now though because every COD has just been bad since MW2 in my opinion.

This will be pretty cool, in the past couple years I have grown tired of cod multiplayer but will probably give this a shot; am not looking forward to the death streaks though.
