MW2 Remastered Multiplayer Coming This Summer, Says Insider

Activision will reportedly release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered in 2020.

That’s according to credited Call of Duty leaker Okami, who claimed on Twitter that an updated version of Infinity Ward’s game will launch this year and that contrary to previous reports, it will include multiplayer.

European ratings body PEGI reportedly rated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered in February 2019, and subsequent reports claimed the officially unannounced title wouldn’t include online play.

However, if the noted insider is to be believed, plans have since changed.

Update, March 20: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been rated by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee.

Original story continues: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which included single player and multiplayer modes, released for PS4, Xbox One and PC in November 2016, initially as part of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare special editions, before getting a standalone release in the summer of 2017.

During a quarterly earnings call this February, Activision Blizzard chief financial officer Dennis Durkin confirmed plans to release “several remastered and reimagined” titles later this year.



If Okami’s information proves accurate, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will be one of several major Call of Duty launches this year.

Activision announced today that free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone will release this Tuesday, while 2020’s premium Call of Duty offering will arrive in the fourth calendar quarter of the year.

MW2 was my favorite Call of Duty; however, I have mixed feelings about a remastered multiplayer. My take is that although the game could be remastered, I'm not sure if the community can be. It's something I have thought about a lot over the quarantine and I still don't know where I stand on it. I love MW2 with all my heart and will never forget the memories I made in middle school with it but I don't wanna see it come out to be the next MWR.

We're all searching for that nostalgic feeling, once it fades, the numbers will drop significantly and not as many people would play as they think. It's something that would be cool to see, but it will NEVER be the same game as when we were kids.

Hopefully this is true, hearing the sound when a challenge is complete, that would make 2020 alot better IMO.

Paws They should have just released it with the campaign. I would definitely get it though if this is true.


I'm hoping they give the people who bought the campaign some sort of discount if they do release the multiplayer this summer or whenever they end up releasing it.

Your a moron lol he's right... Infinity Ward already made that mistake when the released MWR and IW. They split the player base and they themselves admitted it which is why they only released MW2CR and not MW2R with MP. They are gonna take the spotlight off of MW and Warzone right now it would be a terrible business move and they know it. Don't get me wrong I loved MW2 as well and would very much rather get a remastered MP but now is not the right time.


Again another dumbass... That was 2 games together before they got fully into remastered. So please do us all a favor and sit in a corner child because you seem to be just as if not worse with the stupidity...

I could see it being super popular for about a month then it going downhill very quickly after that. For me playing remasters just never feels the same.

It never feels the same but if they manage to do it right, I feel like it could be and remain popular for a long time,.


I think the only way it would be like that is if they release it as the only COD of the year. Or if they decide to make a super shitty cod again like infinite warfare and attach COD 4 Remastered to it lmao.
