DICE Lashes Out at Angry BattleField 3 Fans

Things hit the fans recently on the BattleField 3 EA UK forums.

It seems that certain members of the community forum weren’t too happy when it was announced that Operation Metro was going to be the provided map during the beta testing period of the game. This announcement came AFTER DICE had previously claimed otherwise, that the Operation Metro wasn’t going to be used for beta. Apparently some fans had their hearts set on a different map to play during the beta ( one that would allow up to 64 players ) and became somewhat upset by the news.

When the complaints became loud a forum moderator shared his opinion on the matter:

Almost immediately after the mod hit the submit button on his post the entire thread was deleted, but not before someone made the above screen shot of it.

Was the mod’s response to the disgruntled fans in this case appropriate or over-the-top?

Not really true. They could do what most other companies do and test it themselves or only for friends and family. Yes they need testers, but no, they do not need us.

The Moderator had every right to feel and express what he did.

A Beta is partially to test for online bugs, but all that can quite easily be done internally without the need of the public players.

The other point of a Beta is to give the fans a taste of what is to come, it is almost entirely a gift as the Moderator says, it is only a right to the people who had MoH and Origin, they should have kept it to just that in my opinion, keep all the whiners out.

exactly. who cares about the map? I believe the beta is more about the weapons, especially in this stage.

I don't see why people would get upset at all, they should be happy theres even a beta and be excited to play it rather than bitching about how it not a different map.

Yeah i seen that but i don't remember them saying it would be a different map. Thats why i asked you.
i didnt actually see where they said that. It was probably a post by a mod on the battlefield site forums that got deleted by now.
