Microsoft has made a publishing deal with a company founded by famed filmmaker Gore Verbinski. The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Microsoft's deal with Verbinski's Blind Wink Productions will allow the transmedia company to create content for many of Microsoft's platforms.

Those platforms include the Xbox 360 console. Indeed, the first project under the deal will be an Xbox Live Arcade game that will use Microsoft's Kinect motion sensing camera. The unnamed game from Blind Wink is due out in late 2012.

Gore Verbinski has directed a number of well known movies including the first three films in the hugely successful Pirates of the Caribbean series along with the horror movie The Ring.

Blind Wink Productions was formed back in 2008. It's first production was the 2011 CGI animated movie Rango which Verbinski directed. In a statement about the Microsoft agreement he said, "Audiences consume content very differently today. As an idea house, we at Blind Wink are looking forward to our partnership with Microsoft. Their various platforms give us access to new methods of distribution, allowing us to extend into emerging markets and connect more directly with the audience."
