Should Exploiters be Punished for MW3 Devs’ Mistakes? Bowling Answers

4.3
The infamous prestige token glitch is coming to an end with the next Modern Warfare 3 patch (1.08), but this particular glitch has raised an interesting debate between the “abusers” and MW3′s creative strategist, Robert Bowling.

Robert Bowling believes that a fix is included in “the next title update for MW3″ to rectify the prestige token glitch, but with all the bans that Infinity Ward issued, this issue definitely left its mark. Some players, who admittedly abused the glitch, are arguing with Robert Bowling that since the team behind MW3 dropped the ball in terms of game design, the exploiters shouldn’t be punished for it. Bowling explained “we will fix it [prestige token glitch]. However, it’s important “we make it clear that its not okay to exploit, even while we’re fixing.” One angry player questioned Bowling on the merit of banning players for exploiting a design flaw, Bowling reiterated players are ”not banned for there being a glitch, banned for abusing it.” In regard to the argument of how can the security team hand out bans for problems in the game itself, Bowling explained why it’s not his (security team’s) fault, “unless I came over to your console and got you prestige tokens that you knew you didn’t earn. Then no, I promise you, I am not.”

IW awarded a friend of mine who was -120 tokens with a 2 day ban, reset his wins/kills, but allowed him to keep 2+days of double XP. He was not upset at the ban/reset that he knowingly did and quite surprised about the double XP that was not taken.

XeX_XENONZ While glitching can be cheap, and unfair it is a part of the game that you purchased. I personally believe, weather it was intended to be in the game or not that if it is possible to do it, and the game developers have yet to patch it, you should be able to do it with no punishment. Although it also depends on the level at which it is. If your using it to get an edge over your opponent, and it is in the game, fine so be it, weather its cheap or not. If it is something though that for say makes you 100% invulnerable then yes, you probably should be punished because you are disrupting the playing of other players. Now if it is something like the prestige token glitch, hell no. You shouldn't be punished for being able to buy stuff. You are in no way giving yourself an advantage, even if you have all guns, you would get them by the end of the prestige anyway. Basically IW is a **** for banning people who have gave them money to buy their game and then are using what came on the disc that they purchased. But what ever. My voice really won't even matter to the greedy Robert Bowling and such, Im just one of millions.

Umadbro? That you got banned for a glitch that gives you advantage due to double xp and all weapons at lvl 4 when people have to earn there tokens

It's technically it's not the developers fault because there will always be glitches in any game or program and if a player abuses those exploits then they there will be held to the consequences.

Ambicidal Infinity Ward doesn't care about exploiters and cheaters in the game. They care about money. Nothing else. Not saying they shouldn't do that.

Monetarily, Call of Duty is the one of the most successful entertainment franchises in history. However, the quality and effort put into the game is far below par.

My point relating to the topic: cheaters and exploiters reduce playing time. That is deadly for Infinity Ward. Call of Duty is built for the average person to be able to pick it up, like it, and think they're good at something instantaneously. Why do you think the masses play it. They're not good, but the way the game is built with the rewards system, and general easiness of the game, they are given the illusion that they're skilled.

So if glitchers abuse the game, and try to rank up faster, they reduce they're playing time, and ultimately get tired of the game faster than if they had played without exploits. If they aren't playing CoD, IW isn't earning money. Therefore to punish these "abusers", IW resets their rank, and bans them for 48 hours, just so they can find new glitches to exploit in the newest CoD game.

In Summary: "cheaters" make IW sadface because they make less money.

Cheaters still buy the game no matter what. in every lobby I play in I see a low level dude who's top 3 in the lobby leaderboards. stop acting like you guys matter to them. you already paid, plus you're coming back.
