Modern Warfare 3 sales begin to lag, fall behind Black Ops

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may have set a new record for the biggest entertainment launch in history, but a decline in ongoing sales has caused the title to be overtaken in life-to-date sales for the same period by series’ predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. According to analysts at Macquarie Equities, volume sales for Modern Warfare 3 are currently lagging behind Black Ops’ by around 4.2 percent. For the month of March, it is reported that the title sold less than half the amount that Black Ops sold at that time last year, although exact sales figures are unavailable to the public.

Modern Warfare 3 sold over 6.5 million units within 24 hours of its launch, while Black Ops sold approximately 5.6 million units on launch day.

Webush Securities analyst Michael Pachter states that the title’s poor performance in March could indicate that gamers are becoming more dependent upon new release and less inclined to purchase games post-launch.

Analysts at Piper Jaffray state that the numbers indicate a significant change in the buying habits of the casual market. It is their belief that less players are purchasing games at retail, and that more are using their consoles primarily for video streaming and other forms of media consumption.

Software sales have been down across the board, as seen in sales figures for both February and March.

MW3 and 2 spoonfeeds them and dumbs **** down, so they like it.

Black ops is too slow paced, Because they ruined the fact of killstreaks get you killstreaks, so the gameplay was slow.. Then there was little b!!tches that complain about guns being OP Because they suck so they have to get all the guns horribly dumbed down to where every gun is like 6 shot kill and snipers take like 2 shots dead to the chest. it doesn't take skill to camp and BO was a **** game. Play some MW2 and play right.


You dumbass, people camp in every FPS game including MW2 and MW3.

I returned mine because of the Maps why do we have to pay For elite and the game It should be an option the should release maps at the same time just because we don't want to buy Elite.... Its crap They need to be fair and give the maps to everybody not just the Elite members Earlier and they take like 2 threw 3 month just to release it to the non elite subscribers COME ON TREYARCH MAKE BLACK OPS BETTER NOT WORSE FOR THE WORLD DEPENDS ON IT!!!!!!!

Lol kid you know nothing about trickshotting either. Trickshotting is in search n destroy not TDM and TeamTac... TDM is for when you want to try a million times on one shit bc you cant get it with 1st try. and Teamtac is for when you cant get 6 people for search. so how are you going to call someone illiterate when you know nothing about it yourself??? TTGDominoes Call of Duty sucks all together now. It has become like sports games. Every year they add a little new stuff and then release it. It's pathetic.

Halo 4 is now on my to do list. At least 343i/Bungie know how to make games more different and better then their predecessors.
