Sony: We won't show PS4 until it can demonstrate 'a significant leap'

Sony is not prepared to demonstrate its PlayStation 4 console until the system can demonstrate 'a significant leap' in technology, the group chief executive of SCE has explained.

In a rare interview with industry publication MCV, Andrew House appeared to challenge the emerging view that the next batch of game consoles will not provide a considerable leap in technology.
Asked why Sony did not showcase the next PlayStation at E3 this year, he said: "The right time to talk about new advances in hardware is when you can demonstrate a significant leap on the current experience, and something that is going to be attractive."

"Beyond that we have nothing to say at this point," he added.

Analysts and executives at rival companies have already claimed that next-generation graphics will not leap as far forward as the current generation did from the previous.

Recently, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata questioned whether consumers will ""be able to realise the difference" between current and next generation technologies

It is widely believed that Sony will reveal PlayStation 4 at E3 next year, if not sooner.

I think this is true. They will most likely reveal it along side Xbox 720 at E3 2013 !

If xbox 720 comes out before it then PS4 will lose alot of customers

Laid Either way, the PS4 is probably going to drain your bank. Sony is just to expensive. Sticking to xbox.

Live is worth it, PS3 live looks horrible compared to the 360

I say this to my friends all the time, but I have a feeling..that Microsoft wanted those documents to be leaked out, just as a teaser to get everyones hopes up.

Im not much for Sony(I mean i play it..it feels great to, but im more of an Xbox fanatic myself), but i agree with Andrew. It does seem that the next 'Gen.' Of consoles will be a let down on how big of a leap they are taking. I can't wait to see what they have in store. If they even have anything, im sure he would have let some info out had he had any.
